THE LAST ENCORE

A Rock & Roll Ghost Story Musical

Tagline:
One last concert. One haunted hotel. One battle between good and evil that neither side saw coming.

Synopsis

It’s 1992, and after completing a successful national tour, the rock band KAPOW returns to New York ready to call it a season. But before heading home, guitarist Billy discovers an intriguing opportunity: one final concert at the legendary Golden Lotus Hotel in Ballinger, Texas.

The Golden Lotus is famous for its beautiful ballroom, massive concert arena, and decades of ghost stories. Most of the band wants no part of it. But tour manager Brian sees an opportunity for one final sold-out show and convinces everyone to climb aboard the tour buses for a two-day journey to Texas.

Upon arrival, the band is divided. Billy falls in love with the hotel’s old-world charm. Jodi wants to leave immediately. Faith can’t find a single employee. Kevin begins experiencing strange paranormal encounters in his room. Before long, KAPOW discovers the rumors are true—the Golden Lotus Hotel is haunted.

Fortunately, not all spirits are dangerous.

The band befriends Obie, the tattooed bartender ghost who knows every secret hidden within the hotel walls. They also meet the elegant and charismatic Reginald St. Clair, a legendary pianist who performed at the hotel in the 1930s and never truly left. Along with a collection of friendly spirits, they welcome KAPOW into their unusual world.

Among the living performers arriving for the show is Mandy and the HellPaso Boys, a fiery Texas country-rock band with grit, attitude, and a deep connection to the region’s musical roots. Mandy’s fearless presence and the band’s raw sound bring a new energy to the lineup—and soon, they find themselves just as entangled in the hotel’s supernatural mystery as KAPOW.

But deep within the hotel lurks another group.

A gang of malevolent spirits known as The Mesquite Marauders—outlaws, gamblers, rustlers, and drifters from Texas history—have spent decades terrorizing both guests and ghosts alike. Their leader believes the hotel belongs to them and wants all outsiders gone forever.

As concert night approaches, tensions rise and supernatural chaos spreads throughout the Golden Lotus. When the friendly spirits and the Marauders finally clash, KAPOW and Mandy and the HellPaso Boys find themselves trapped between two worlds.

Now the bands must decide:

Walk away and abandon the show…

Or join forces with their ghostly friends and help save the Golden Lotus Hotel.

In a climactic battle where rock and roll collides with the supernatural, the fate of the hotel—and the greatest concert in Texas history—hangs in the balance.
